Our annual academic camp's theme is the legal system

This year's Power Camp theme was the legal system. Camp included lots of fun learning activities, including Mock Trials, and visits from lawyers for the older kids, while the younger kids focused on "making wise decisions."

On Monday we visited the Hennepin County Government Center, where DinoMights volunteer and lawyer Erik Beitzel took the kids on a tour of the court and introduced them to people who work there, including:

Johannes Widmalm-Delphonse
Heather Brown
Judge Jeannice Reding
Judge Toddrick "Todd" Barnette

On Tuesday and Wednesday, we learned more about the legal system with presentations by attorneys Bernie Dusich and Mike Ervin. The older kids completed their Mock Trials on Thursday.

Meanwhile, the younger kids practiced reading skills and participated in discussions and activities that helped them learn about the difference between being wise and being foolish.

The whole group - those who attended all days of Power Camp - enjoyed a fun field trip to Bunker Beach on Friday as a reward for all their hard work!
