DinoMights built a small 20x40’ backyard rink at 34th and Park Avenue South in the winter of 2014-15, Based on the success of the small rink, the next year we expanded the outdoor rink, and the opportunity it provides for DinoMights' participants and kids in the Phillips, Powderhorn Park and Central neighborhoods.

Thanks to the generous support of our sponsors, foundations and individual donors, in 2015-16 the rink was enlarged and moved to a more visible location on the Minneapolis Greenway. The DinoMights' Outdoor Hockey Rink provided 3,000 user hours of activity and also provided seasonal jobs for teens and young adults in our community.

In 2016-17, we were proud to expand the facility further to offer two rinks and to officially name the rink in honor of Billy Lindsay. (Read more about his story here.) In spite of an abbreviated season due to warm weather, the rink generated over 4000 user hours.

The main rink added full height boards In 2017-18. Dimensions of 120' x 60' enabled it to be used for team practices, games and periodic community events. A secondary rink measuring 72' x 40' with short boards provided an area for general skating. The inaugural Bill St. Mane tournament was held this year. Sharing this facility with organizations increased the user hours to over 5,000.

Both rinks are staffed and open, along with an adjacent warming house, during regular hours 7 days a week. See rink hours posted on the right side of this page.

The Billy Lindsay Outdoor Hockey Rink and warming house is staffed and available for open skate and pickup hockey during these hours in the 2017-18 season:

Monday-Friday: 5:00 pm - 9:00 pm

Saturday: 9:00 am - 9:00 pm

Sunday: 1:00 pm - 9:00 pm

Rink and warming house will be open on Monday, January 15 (Martin Luther King Day) from 1:00 pm - 9:00 pm.

In case of extremely cold weather, the rink may be closed.
